When Will I Die?
Death can come both unannounced and announced. Poor or rich, old or young, it makes no variance to Death. In Mahabharatha, there is an event where the Pandavas run into death in the appearance of a Yaksha that lived in a lake. During their banishment, when Pandavas were living in forest, they were approached by a Brahmin, who asked them to recover the holy grass that a deer had run away with. Yudhishtir sent his brothers to get it, but no one returned. Lastly, when he went to find them, he found them lying lifeless on the banks of a lake. Not knowing what had killed them, he felt shaken. Since he felt thirsty, he tried to sip some water from lake. Abruptly, he heard a voice, which warned him not to drink water from the lake because he would die, similar to his brothers. It was the voice of a Yaksha who lived in that lake. Yaksha told Yudhishtir that he had to reply to his questions first prior to drinking, or he will die. Yudhishtir agreed, and then Yaksha asked several questions. Yudhishtir answered them accurately. 1 of the question was, “What is the utmost incredible thing in the world?” Yudhishtir’s answered, “Although human beings are mortal, yet they act as if they will live eternally.”
Yudhishtir spoke correctly. If we recognize that death is inescapable, we would be more aware of our actions on the earth. An astrologer will be capable of predicting the time of an individuals’s death from their horoscope. The planetary positions in the horoscope will specify the period when death is most probable to occur.
